City-led citizen engagement for food policies in Europe

On October 14th, Food Trails and the Food 2030 Project Family – Fusilli, FoodE, Cities2030, and FoodSHIFT – will come together for a virtual event on the occasion of the 2021 Farm to Fork Conference to share lessons on engaging citizens for food systems transformation.
Heading up to World Food Day 2021, the Food 2030 Project Family – Food Trails, FUSILLI, FoodE, Cities2030 and FoodSHIFT – will co-host an official side event at the Farm to Fork 2021 conference: “City-led citizen engagement for food policies in Europe”. The virtual event will take place on October 14th, from 12:00 to 13:15 CEST.
How do we change our food systems in Europe? The Farm to Fork 2021 Conference – Building sustainable food systems together is the annual gathering of European stakeholders interested in helping to shape the EU’s path towards sustainable food systems. This year it will be held very close to World Food Day, on the 14th and 15th October 2021.
Stakeholders across the food system, public authorities, international and civil society organisations, research and innovation actors, as well as other citizens and the public are invited to join the debate on the progress made on the implementation of the Farm to Fork Strategy for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system.
Food Trails and the four Food 2030 Project Family – FUSILLI, FoodE, Cities2030, and FoodSHIFT – were all funded by the EU under Horizon 2020 and all aim at contributing to the Food 2030 objectives, in line with the theme of the Farm To Fork conference. On the whole, the five projects bring together within their consortia 52 local authorities from 21 countries in geographic Europe and are also active in other cities through local organizations.
The side-event “City-led citizen engagement for food policies in Europe” is the occasion for the five projects to showcase the results of their work on food system transformation in Europe, focused on cities and citizens engagement, and to bring the lessons learnt into the current dialogue on how to change the European food system.
Heading on the World Food Day 2021 – October 16th – the virtual event will also mark Food Trails’ one-year anniversary!
