Event description

What factors and approaches can support the procurement of food that is healthy, environmentally sustainable, and socially just? How can food in cities support farmers and producers in surrounding areas? How can publicly purchased food serve as a tool to improve food consumption more broadly?

This session explores procurement policies and practices that enable the uptake of healthy sustainable diets, with an emphasis on justice and livelihood. Examples from a diversity of cities will be highlighted, followed by a discussion about overcoming barriers and scaling up the influence of public procurement. An interactive element will source questions and input from the audience.
