Food Trails at the 2nd Edible Cities Network Conference in Barcelona

On 17 March Food Trails will be represented at Edible Cities Network Conference, taking place in Barcelona from 15 to 17 March 2023. Food Trails partner cities of Copenhagen, Milan and Bordeaux Métropole will share their experiences on sustainable public food procurement during the side event “Edible cities and sustainable public procurement“.
Advancing the Edible City – Ideas, practices and systems: the 2nd Edible Cities Network Conference
The event will bring together leading researchers, policymakers and city administrators, civil society actors, green city activists and entrepreneurs to explore the ideas, practices, and systems necessary to support the sustainable, resilient and socially just development of cities’ food systems. With a combination of keynote talks, roundtable discussions, field trips to urban food projects in Barcelona and lots of chances to discuss and network, this 3-day event will explore the very latest findings on the power of urban food innovation to tackle social, ecological and economic challenges within cities. Edible cities and sustainable public procurement
Sustainable public procurement (SPP) of food and catering services can be a powerful tool to transform local food systems, by strategically aiming at local (economic, environmental and social) sustainability effects by use of public purchasing power. The session will discuss sustainable public procurement policies and practices within the urban context through an exchange of ideas and experiences by practitioners and researchers from different cities.
